Professor John Breeding On The DSM.

If you are not mentally ill, if you are not emotionally disturbed, if you do not know anyone who is possibly suffering, do not watch this video.  The speaker is boring.  He has no stage presence.  He's not so pretty.

But he has a message for those of us who are in pain, either from our own issues, or the family around us.  He shoots down the popular theories of mental illness.  He speaks the truth.  And from a woman who is certifiable, I say:  Watch him.

Makes you wonder if everyone could be diagnosed with a mental illness.

Anon~You have a point there.!

Sometimes it does seem that everyone is diagnosable these days, when in the past it was just bad behavior. But there's a line between "Borderline Personality Traits" and say, teen-age angst. We may have blurred it a tad.

Cheat on your partner? Sex Addiction. Taking the wings off flies? Early sign of a socio-path. Unable to say "hello" to an adult? Shy at least, Social Anxiety more likely!

I don't know about you, but my parents made my dysfunctional, sexually molested arse toe the line. 'Course, I blurred that line too!
