Red Bull Ban.

Health concerns over the Red Bull energy drink were fueled yesterday after Europe's highest court upheld a French ban on the product.

The fizzy drink has been linked to several deaths and some experts have criticiced its high levels of caffeine and other stimulants.

 Medical News Today.

France is not the only country that has banned the popular drink, Red Bull.  (It's site is a bit slow to load, maybe 'coz it needs a shot of Bull)!  Denmark and Norway have done so also.  Britain's Committee on Toxicity have deemed the product safe, but warn that pregnant women should not drink it, as the high caffine content could lead to miscarriage.

Excessive caffine is not the only ingredient that is worrysome.  Red Bull contains an amino acid, taurine and a carbohydrate, glucuronolactone.   There is also the the added concern of those who like to mix it with alcohol.  Besides this being about the most revolting concoxion I could image, a bit like drinking cherry cough syrup just for kicks, the "energy" of the caffine can mask alcohol's effects.  Which considering it's population with young people, is a grave and potentially lethal issue.

I think it says on the back of the drink do not exceed two drinks, or something like that. I did not know it was that dangerous though.

Ashley~This country is so busy trying to protect individual rights that it fails to address when entire companies are crossing the line.

Most people don't read the fine print on a can of energy drink. Recently, a kid died during a football game, after he and his friends drank about four Red Bulls.

Also, because they are not FDA approved, many contain ingredients that are possibly lethal. One example is Ginseng.

Whilst there are three different kinds, only Siberian Ginseng is not lethal. But parts of it are: The seeds and the stems. Can we trust these companies to use the correct parts of the safe plant?

For more information on this and other similar issues, I recommend that you visit the site of CIRCARE, which I have a link to in my side column.

Merelyme~I'm a little dazed due to my work load, but I 'm planning, if I haven't already, to add your wonderful blog to my "Brilliant Blogs" roll. You are a hero of mine!

The information is not spread enough, about these drinks. I'm a consumer of too much Diet Coke, which contains ingredients that contribute to my weight and mental health issues. As Pepsi just gave $500,000 to a charity, I'll be drinking their evil diet drink until I can wean myself off this type of product.
