Join BEN-FM at Bonk’s Bar & Grille, 24th District Richmond & Tioga, on Saturday December 6th from 4pm - 8pm for a Benefit in the memory of Sgt. Tim Simpson. The event donation is $20.00. There will be a silent auction including "World Champion" items, Philadelphia Soul football items and more. Sgt. Simpson Memorial T Shirts will also be for sale. Visit the FOP site here.*
I did go to the FOP site, but the pdf. that I downloaded was incomplete. It's maybe just my computer, but when I called my neighbour Elkie, a policewoman here, she knew nothing about the event. (I am sending an email to the FOP's PR person). I looked around the web, but couldn't find anything else about it, so I'll just let you know the info that I have.
Pat the Hat, a musician who is playing the event, told me about it on Friday. Freddie Hermann is also providing musical entertainment. Pat the Hat told me the event goes from 9pm to 1pm. The *'d paragraph came off a community site, which I stupidly didn't write down. Oops. So, who knows? I only just found the above notice five minutes ago, at seven pm, so if I leave now, I may catch the last hour, or be two hours early. As I don't drink, I do not want to be two hours early for an event in a bar!
So, I'll throw a couple of concrete bricks in the back of my pick-up, as it's snowing lightly, and head over around nine. Even if I've missed the festivities, I'm sure they'll still take a donation. The family of slain Officer Simpson needs all the help we can give them, as the police Survivor's Fund has been seriously depleted. See you at Bonk's Bar......I'll stand you a drink! If you can't get there tonight, no worries. You can donate via the FOP of Philadelphia's site, or go to their Survivor's Fund site, here.
I'd like to thank the men and women who work to make our city better. From the Police, Fire Department, EMTs, Paramedics and Medics, to name a few, my most sincere gratitude and admiration. Quite a few of you have saved my life, more than once. Most of my friends think that was a massive favour! Thank you and stay safe, my friends, my heroes.

Well, I just got back. The benefit had indeed started at four and apparently was packed. I located an officer, Kate, who was willing to take my donation. I explained my misunderstanding. The bar was still hopping with uniforms and people sporting the Sgt. Simpson Memorial Shirts. They were sharp and I was a tad jealous! Anyway, in case you're interested, there'll be another fund raiser for Sgt. Simpson's family on February 13th, 2009. I'll try and keep you informed, but Kate told me that it will be announced on the FOP website.

BABY SISTER~
It was for a good cause and I got to look at some fine men in uniform. Oh, and women in uniform too.
I'm planning to go back, on account of their fierce reputation for crabs.
No, silly, the kind you eat.
A box of fluffies to you, my pet.
