OK, I know that I said I'd be passing out awards over the holiday, but hey! Thanksgiving hasn't happened, so I'm not stringing up Christmas lights yet. Neither holiday means squat to me, so, fuggit.
Anyway, the point of this little post is quite simple. Let's face it, the people who read and comment on blogs are generally interested 1) In reading, 2) Reading blogs, 3) Reading blogs about subjects that they are interested in.
I suspect that the reason you are reading this blog right now has to do with mental health, social issues, or that you are somehow involved in my life. Now, because of this blog, I have gathered some people who read and comment on a fairly frequent basis.
Here's the thing. I'm involved in an art class that is working to create a show. We all have mental diagnoses, and through the class, have created a small support group. To wit: One girl was hospitalized and so we gathered ourselves to visit her.
The girl who was in the hospital told me about this movement in Chicago, called Mad Tea Party. They recognize that most of don't have family or friends to visit when we are in a hospital for mental illness. So, they created this forum, so that if you are in lock-down, people who understand will visit.
Why am I rambling about this when I should be in bed? Because I came to my blogger dashboard, which shows the blogs I follow, and the top line caused me serious pain.
"I'm so lonesome I could die." It was about eleven at night when I saw it. My friend Susan had posted it a couple of hours earlier. I rang her, to no avail. I left a message on Liz Spikol's site, I called again. Left another message.
So, another modest proposal, my friends. We have a small, almost incestuous community, which should be put to good use. Whilst it is nice to send various forms of emoticoms, (which on record, I hate), I think that we can use our caring, our community, our glad rags, our knowledge and our power, to set up a virtual Mad Tea Party, maybe named "Our Tea Party".
My friend, ergo, your friend Susan, is in dire need of help and support. Give everything you have to her right now and it will be returned. Send her your love and let her know that she is not alone.
I want to look into a continued virtual support system, modeled on Mad Tea Party. I'm new to computers and would love any input and ideas. Please leave comments that include how I might reach you. Send me an e-mail at Danomacnamarrah@yahoo.com, leave me a phone number, if you like. I'll call you.

Thanks for linking to my blog.
I'll have more of a poke around your blog.
Hope you are having a good day.
Evan
Great idea Dano - not sure I have anything to contribute to it yet, but wait til my brain re-forms from its current jelly-like state... I might think of something then! ;)
Susan~ No apologies, please. It was late when I rang, but I was worried.
Cats have great healing powers. It's a medical fact that being with a purring cat reduces high blood pressure.
Evan~ You are welcome!
Also, welcome to my little corner of the web.
Svasti~ I also need to mull this over and see what I can come up with. Maybe a separate blog that we could link to, maybe a kind of virtual phone-tree....
Dano,
What a great idea!
Hey Dano!! Just dropping by to say hi and catch up on your posts. *Hugs!* Missed you! And thank you for the support you sent my way during the last little while. It was appreciated big time.
I like the idea. I'll drop you an email.
Polar Bear~ It's just a wisp of an idea, right now. But I have a week of scraping off old lead paint, to ponder it further....
CK!!!~ I am so happy to see you again, my old friend! I'll be over in a bit to say hello and welcome back! Yay yippidy!
Immi~ I got it, thanks! We'll figure it out, if it needs to be, I hope.
